Hello, I’m Lynda. I’m a mum of four, activist, humanitarian, freelance journalist, editor and independent publisher based in Scotland.
Like many of us, I’ve found it very difficult to watch the horrific events unfold in Gaza and have felt powerless to help.
Yes, I’ve spoken out, I’ve signed petitions, and written to Keir Starmer.
I’ve gone to Islamic Help events to help fundraise to send more surgeons and set up a crowdfunder – with mixed results.
But it’s not enough. The genocide continues. The starvation of a nation continues.
Yet the people of Palestine remain strong, resilient and proud. And I have been lucky enough to connect with some amazing people on this journey.
I was ignorant at first, so I educated myself – not just on what’s happening now, but in history. Since then I have become passionate about the plight of the Palestinians.
I have educated myself in Middle Eastern culture and even started studying the Quran.
I plan to visit either Gaza or the West Bank as soon as I possibly can. And if I can help rebuild, I’ll be one of the first ones off the plane.
But while I have met incredible new people and had the privilege of hearing their stories (you’ve no idea how amazing it is to get a call from Palestine personally thanking you for your hard work), this educational and spiritual journey has exposed the extent of selfishness, materialism and racism that still exists in the west (and elsewhere).
I have lost people and I have gained people. And so, I dedicate this blog to new friends – both here and in Gaza. Thank you for sharing your stories with me.
Free Palestine.
