In Palestine, humanity knows no bounds – especially in the Hamada family which, despite displacement, is helping other Gazans survive

A picture can tell a thousand words. Yet, against all odds, Ahmed and the Hamada Charity Team are determined to save Palestinian lives and revive northern Gaza

Like many Gazans, Ahmed Hamada and his family have been displaced from the north to the south after watching their beloved house destroyed by the occupation.

Reflecting on the devastation

They fled the rubble and constant bombardment to set up home in a tent south of Gaza City, with little belongings and little food.

But Ahmed’s tears and frustration have never been for himself, regardless the hardships he, his wife and two children have faced since the start of the genocide.

Instead, his thoughts and prayers are with the families left behind in the north.

Since the move, Ahmed has been focusing all his energy on raising money to help those in northern and central Gaza, including the Palestinian refugee camp in Nuseirat.

And he’s not alone. After setting up the Hamada Charity Team, he has an army of volunteers helping to provide food, water and other basic essentials.

Yet he is humble. He apologises to me for asking for donations.

“I want to raise more money to help families in northern Gaza,” he says. “The situation there is very difficult. Please forgive us. I want to alleviate their suffering.

“The Hamada Charity Team from Gaza was born from compassion and from the deep pain of seeing people suffer without help.

The Hamada Charity Team relies on donations

“We are a small, grassroots group that moves fast when it matters most. No waiting, just direct help – delivered with love, without delays or bureaucracy.

“With the help of our dear friends from Pomozimo zajedno, we have reached countless families in desperate need.”

Pomozimo zajedno – translated as ‘Let’s Help Together’ – is a Croatian charity which supports people having medical treatment away from home.

Together, the two humanitarian organisations have handed out baby formula, nappies, flour, clean water, food and emergency aid to families trapped by hunger and blockade.

“After the terrible destruction in northern Gaza, our team was forced to leave our homes.

“But even in displacement, our hearts remain determined to revive northern Gaza and respond to the growing needs of our people.

“In a place where survival itself is a daily struggle, Hamada Charity Team stands with those in need and we invite you to stand with us.

“Your generosity keeps hope alive. Together, we can bring light where everything seems lost.”

I’m Lynda

Welcome to Phone Calls from Palestine, where I share the experiences of my Palestinian friends as part of my ongoing campaign to raise money to get aid into Gaza, the West Bank and diaspora and help stop the genocide.

This blog is dedicated to amplifying the voices of our Palestinian brothers and sisters by sharing their stories. I hope it fosters understanding, empathy, and connection across borders through the shared experience of humanity.

From heart-warming tales to gripping narratives, this blog is designed to bring you closer to the beautiful people of Palestine.

These are people I have connected with, conversed with, gotten to know and am now trying to support.

This is not charity, this is solidarity.

Please share and, if you can, donate here.
